Weathering the Storm on Blackburn

Here’s a dispatch from our crew on Alaska’s Mt. Blackburn from midday today:

Weathering the Storm on Blackburn!

Sounds like they had a busy night defending their camp from the storm but are in good spirits and ready to continue the climb as soon as it clears. There were 5-foot snow drifts throughout camp but they have cleared those and are tugged in and snug in something like this:

The weather for the next 4 days looks pretty decent, with a mix of clouds, sun and snow showers. It’s not the perfect high pressure window but it’s not too bad either, so as soon as the storm clears they will start their summit attempt – probably tomorrow (Monday) morning.

We’ll keep you posted!
