SEAG Backcountry Fried Rice

SEAG Backcountry Fried Rice

Created by Anya Bosskresensky, chef extraordinaire. Bring chopsticks and a fortune cookie to spice this one up! 

Serves: 1 person

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup instant rice
  • ⅓ cup assorted freeze dried vegetables
  • ¼ cup freeze dried meat or TVP
  • ¼ stick butter
  • Fried rice seasoning packet
  • Soy sauce (small container)
  • Sriracha packets

Optional:

  • 1 egg or egg powder
  • Turn this into yellow curry fried rice by adding yellow curry powder 
  • Hawaiian style with peas, carrots, onions, spam, and pineapple

Directions:

  1. If using eggs, cook separately in a small pot with butter.
  2. In a large pot, rehydrate rice, vegetables, and protein.
  3. Cook until fully rehydrated (veggies and meat may take longer).
  4. Drain excess water if needed.
  5. Add butter, eggs, and seasoning.
  6. Stir well and enjoy your homemade backpacking meal.
