Every year we see more and more adventure-seekers walk through our doors looking for an extreme, adrenaline-pumping trip. If you’re one of these brave souls, we are pleased to say that we can finally offer you the trip you’ve been looking for! After years of construction, we have finally completed the Root Glacier’s first – drum roll please – ZIPLINE!
Meet us at our Kennecott Office, where you’ll board our company bush plane (after you sign some paperwork, of course) to take a short flight to the top of the Stairway Icefall. Perched on top of the 7,000ft Stairway Icefall, this baby takes you soaring down all 7 miles of the Root Glacier – we did mention this was extreme, right?
Get harnessed up before you take a leap of faith and begin your descent. Reaching speeds of up to 150 mph, this trip is not for the faint of heart. Not only will you get an incredible, bird’s-eye view of the cracked-up Icefall, if you’re lucky you might even catch a glimpse of the infamous Ice Worms – previously only seen on our Ice Worm Safari Trip!
This trip runs rain or shine, so be sure to bring your rain gear! And we mean it! Nothing is going to get between you and your medically-inadvisable experience! Torrential downpour? Trust us, getting wet will be the least of your concerns.
Gear/Equipment: Goggles, helmets, and full-body padding strongly recommended, but not provided. Please note that we were not able to construct any means of “slowing the zip-line down”. Just be sure to jump off before you reach the end of the line – our professional guides will instruct you on the best techniques. Good thing you already signed all that paperwork! Remember to tuck and roll! (Our First Aid/CPR Certified Interns will be standing by.)
