Guide Spotlight – Sarah Moran

Whether you find her answering questions in our office, or out guiding a tour on the glacier, her big smile and bubbly personality are sure to shine through! Sarah first joined us in 2019, however she was already familiar with McCarthy, Kennecott, and Wrangell-St. Elias, because she first came into the area in 2018, working for our friends over at the Kennicott Glacier Lodge. However, her love of the outdoors quickly persuaded her to jump across the street and work for us! (can you blame her?) We’ve loved having her as part of our team, and so have our guests!

Originally from Long Island (you can tell when she offers to make you “cawfee” on the glacier), she’s spent lots of time in upstate New York, and even a season out in Telluride, in-between her stints in McCarthy. Despite her thick accent, she’s an excellent communicator, and even is fluent in American Sign Language (a skill we’ve utilized – she’s given a full Kennecott Mill Tour in ASL!). When she’s not at work, she loves getting out hiking and ice climbing with friends. She also can be found cheering on her favorite New York teams – the Yankees and Giants!

Since 1978, St. Elias Alpine Guides has been the oldest continuously operating outfitter in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, guiding thousands of adventures across its 13.2 million acres.
