Guide Spotlight – Paige Bedwell

If a bubbly, chipper voice answers the phone when you call, chances are, you’ve reached Paige. Returning for her third full season with us this spring, Paige initially impressed us with her organizational skills and positive attitude, but then continued to amaze us with her endless energy and general enthusiasm for the Wrangell Mountains.

She splits her time between working the front office and guiding, and equally enjoys the challenges of guiding and the logistics of keeping all the reservations, guides, and vehicles organized in the day-to-day operations of SEAG. Did we mention that she also loves cats? That may be an understatement… When Paige is not guiding or working in the office, she can often be found on a bicycle, exploring the dirt roads around McCarthy, and getting a good workout in.
Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, Paige attended Virginia Commonwealth University before joining us up in McCarthy. While in school, she guided backpacking, sea kayaking, and mountain biking trips through her university’s outdoor program, and loved sharing her passion for the outdoors with her fellow students. While she used to spend her winters as a bike messenger in Richmond, she recently has been spending her winters down in Patagonia working as the Equipment Manager for NOLS (while perfecting her Spanish and exploring the local mountains of course). But we sure are happy she chooses to return to the Wrangells for the summers, and know you will be too!
