kennicott glacier backpackingSpice up your breakfast rotation on your next backpacking trip with this delicious sweet breakfast! Created by our own Chef BoyarDurfee (Lead Guide Chris Durfee), this fruit-packed breakfast is sure to fuel you for your day’s adventures!

Serves: 4 people, or 3 hungry guides
  • 1 cup orzo
  • 1 cup dried cherries
  • 1 cup dried mango (chopped) or dried apples
  • 1/2 cup pecans (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup powdered milk (non-fat dry milk)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp freeze-dried maple syrup
  • 1 tsp allspice or extra 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground cloves, 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Add all ingredients to the pot. Add just enough water to cover the ingredients (about 4 cups). Bring mix to a boil and cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes while stirring occasionally. Tip: Cover pot to decrease cook time and save fuel.
