Born and raised in Minnesota, Kyle is the epitome of “Minnesota Nice!” Whether in the office, on a Kennecott Mill Town Tour, or out on the Root Glacier, he’s sure to answer any of your questions with a smile, or a cheerful “you betcha!” Growing up, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, and just about anything else you can do outside in rural, northern Minnesota. He has a passion for history, which initially drew him to Kennecott and the opportunity to lead our historical mining tours. So if you’re lucky enough to have him guiding your tour, be sure to fire lots of questions his way! His experience working in retail and as a bank teller made him a great fit to work in our office as well – he’s happy to answer any of your questions, and set you off in the right direction.
With his Minnesota upbringing, Kyle has always been built for cold weather. In 2016, Kyle decided the only sensible choice was for him to try his hand at Alaska – and what a good idea it was! Upon his arrival, he immediately fell in love with everything about it – the culture, the mountains, and the rugged wilderness – and started making plans to have Alaska be his year-round permanent location. In McCarthy, when he’s not working, Kyle can be found exploring the interesting features of the Root Glacier, or hiking up to one of the mines on Bonanza Ridge to examine the historic artifacts (and enjoy the spectacular views of course).
