Ethan started his life in the wild as a Boy Scout in Austin Texas. He gave up a promising future as a bike racer to pursue a life exploring everything from caves in Texas to Mount Rainier and now the breathtaking scenery of Wrangell- St. Elias.
Ethan has a passion for learning and an amazing memory, traits that have earned him the nickname “the encyclopedia” everywhere he goes. But he only uses his powers for good, striving to make your outdoor experience as rich as possible with interesting facts about the natural and human history of the park, and any other topics you want to hear about, from environmental science to Japanese cuisine. He is also a Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace Trainer, and when not guiding, runs a bike shop in Austin, TX. Ethan has significant experience backpacking the Wrangells, but two trips in particular stand out as his favorites – the Chitistone Goat Trail and Journey to Oz!
