Our river trips start out...

One of the most striking views of the day is right off the bat -
the 7,000ft high Stairway Icefall. Photo by Steve Crum.

The Kennicott River flows out of the Kennicott Glacier just a mile
upstream of our put-in. The piles of rock in the picture are the
terminal morraine of the glacier. Photo by Steve Crum.

The rapids on the Kennicott River are fun and splashy Class II+.
Don't worry, you're not likely to fall into that 33 degree water!

Our professional guides will share their extensive
knowledge
of the local natural history along the way. Photo by Steve Crum.

They will also tell you about the history of travel on these rivers.
Aren't you glad your raft doesn't look like this?!

We provide a tasty lunch, complete with fresh fruits and
vegetables, lunch meats, salmon salad and dessert!

While we are preparing lunch, you can take a short walk, look for
wildlife tracks, enjoy the wildflowers, or just take a little nap in the sun.

After lunch, we head into the Nizina Canyon, with 200ft limestone
walls and swirling Class III rapids. Photo by Steve Crum.

After we emerge from the canyon, we say goodbye to the river and
board our bush plane taxi for the ride back to McCarthy.

After flying up the river you have just rafting down, you will get spectacular aerial views of Mt Blackburn and the Kennicott and Root Glaciers.

Just before landing in McCarthy, you will get great views
of the Erie Mine (shown), and the townsite of Kennecott.
