River Rafting

Alaska Rafting Trips with St. Elias Alpine Guides

Rafting on one of our Alaska Rafting TripsIf you want to get deep into the wilderness and travel many miles through the mountains but have only few days or a couple weeks to do it, our Alaska rafting adventures are made for you. The glacially fed rivers of Wrangell St. Elias National Park carry us to many places inaccessible by foot or any other means of transport. Many of our trips start near our base in McCarthy, less than a mile below the terminus of the Kennicott Glacier. On all our trips we splash through rapids and may eat salmon fresh out of the river we travel on, but our river adventures are not based on whitewater or on fishing. Instead, they are based on exploration – exploration of glaciers, of tundra, of wooded stream courses, of routes through mountain ranges draped with ocean mist, of deep, rock walled canyons, and wide open braided glacial valleys. We enjoy fresh food, comfortable camps, and evening campfires next to crystal clear streams.

Our rafting adventures include all river gear needed and professional guides with local knowledge and experience. Guests on our river trips need to be in good physical health, but do not to need to be athletes. Rafting opens the way for participants of all ages from all walks of life. You are welcome to participate to whatever extent you prefer – from learning to row the boats and taking daily hikes to just sitting back and enjoying the scenery and good food. Learn more about Alaska whitewater rafting on our sister company’s website www.copperoar.com.
