Our Kennecott History Tours paint a vivid picture of life
on the Alaskan frontier at the turn of the century.
|

The concentration mill of Kennecott in the present
as Alaska fall colors settle into the valley.
|

Our tours start by walking through town, explaining the
early history of Kennecott, the function of each building,
and a few fun stories to piece the puzzle together.
|

The depth of our knowledge of local history makes it interesting,
our entertaining and engaging interpretive style makes it fun.
|

Our guides have numerous accounts from the worker’s
themselves, which really brings the history to life.
|

We explain the processes by which the Kennecott Copper Company was able to turn this site into one of the most productive copper mines to date.
|

Because of our long standing company history of giving tours of
Kennecott, the National Park Service awarded St. Elias Alpine Guides
the exclusive concession to enter the 14 story mill building,
chemical concentration plant and plant powerhouse.
|

Kennecott developed one of the first full-scale chemical
concentration plants in the world – the chief process
by which most precious metals are mined today.
|

We’ll also share the turbulent history of the Copper River
and North Western Railway (aka Can’t Run and Never Will).
|

Throughout the tour, great views of the valley peak out from
windows and missing slats – great photo opportunities abound!
|

We will also share how the forces of nature continue to work on the townsite, like this flood in the fall of 2006.
