Neely
|
Trading flippers for crampons, Neely over the last 8 years transitioned from being a prior high school science teacher & marine biologist to a mountaineer & professional student. Though Neely still enjoys swimming in water, his present passion for the past 8 years has been to play and climb on water in its solid state. Given this, Neely has trekked and ice climbed in diverse parts of the world including New Zealand’s Southern Alps, India’s Zaskar Mountains, South America’s Andes, and the Canadian Rockies. More importantly, Neely is known locally as the Fort Collins regional “Settlers of Catan” Board Game Bronze Medalist Winner of 2010 and has the ability to eat rancho scrambled eggs for breakfast, 5-7 days a week, for three months strait... When not working on his Ph.D. in Science Education, Neely spends his time Ice Climbing & mountaineering in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Though not a skier, Neely claims to be a black diamond rated professional snowshoer. Guiding with St. Elias Guides last summer had such an impact on Neely that he donated a kidney to be able to pull away from his Ph.D. program to join us again for the summer 2011 season. Neely is also a Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace Trainer, NOLS alumni, and member of the Larimer County Search and Rescue. |
