Johann may be only 18 years old, but 2010 will be his 6th season with St. Elias Alpine Guides! He started with us at the ripe young age of 13, folding t-shirts and sweeping the office each morning. Nowadays he can be found doing anything from hauling gear for a river trip to leading historical tours and glacier hikes to training our new interns and guides or assisting on backpacking trips. Every now and then we even still ask him to sweep the office, and, like everything he does, he obliges with a courteous smile and nod.

Johann is an exceptional teenager in many ways, and if you are one of the lucky ones to have him as a guide on your trip, we are confident that you will be enthralled not only by his maturity and professionalism, but also by his extensive knowledge of the local natural and human history.

Among his many other accomplishments and activities, Johann flies airplanes, goes hunting with his dad, sky-dives, rock climbs and occassionaly does homework and torments his little sister.
