Ben grew up in Connecticut and as a boy always dreamed of someday getting out of the suburbs and exploring the great wild places in the world. He began making that dream a reality soon after graduating from the University of Vermont in May of 2008 and after saving some money went west to explore the Sierras. While the skiing in Tahoe is world class, Ben thirsted for bigger wilderness and was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend a summer with us in the Wrangells in 2009.

"I love exploring the glacier and the mountains around the Kennicott valley. I love sharing wilderness adventures with clients and especially love seeing the reactions of clients when I can show them the mind-blowing features on the glacier and appreciate with them the raw power that the “mountain kingdom” of North America can wield. I love to work hard all day – be it splitting wood, building stuff with wood, hiking hard, or climbing hard, the satisfaction of a good days work makes relaxing by the bonfire at night all the more enjoyable."
