Historical Tour Leader - St. Elias Alpine Guides

Historical Tour Leaders will be taking clients on tours of the old Kennecott Mill Building complex, as well as walking tours of the town of McCarthy.  Historical Tour Leaders receive extensive pre-season training, as well as study materials to be familiar with prior to arriving in McCarthy. Although not required, speaking multiple languages, especially German, is a significant asset.

This is an opportunity to live in an extremely interesting Alaska bush town, working with outdoor enthusiasts and engaged clientele. There is no electricity or running water in the town of McCarthy, so you must be prepared to "rough it" for the whole time you are here. We have historical tour leader positions open for both the whole season and for the peak season of July and the first half of August.

Historical tour leaders also often work as office staff and/or hiking guides, but this is not required.

Interested applicants should be very comfortable talking in front of groups for up to 3 hours at a time, have an interest in history, and be friendly and personable.
